Odisha Police has begun extensive preparations to ensure safe and disciplined conduct of Debasnana Purnima in Puri on June 29.
Director General of Police Yogesh Bahadur Khurania chaired a high-level review meeting at the state police headquarters in Cuttack today.
The meeting focused on crowd control, traffic management, and overall security arrangements for the sacred festival, which attracts lakhs of devotees. Senior officials discussed strategies to maintain order during the Snana Yatra and the upcoming Rath Yatra.
The DGP instructed officers to coordinate at all levels to prevent lapses and ensure the smooth execution of rituals. Additional DGP (Modernisation) Soumendra Kumar Priyadarshi presented a detailed plan for managing the Snana Yatra.
Authorities confirmed deployment of 72 platoons of police force, supported by six SPs/Commandants, 17 Additional SPs, 42 DSPs, and 94 Inspectors. The force will also include 352 SI/ASI, 53 Havildars, and 428 Constables.
Independent barricades will guide devotees for orderly darshan at the Snana Mandap. Advanced CCTV cameras will monitor temple premises and barricaded zones. Special crack teams, anti-snatching squads, and striking forces will remain on standby to handle emergencies and prevent theft.
Senior officials from multiple departments attended the meeting, including intelligence, law and order, coastal security, transport, and crime branch. District administration will coordinate with the police to ensure smooth arrangements.
