In preparation for the upcoming second edition of ‘Odisha Parba’, a three-day cultural extravaganza set to showcase Odisha’s rich heritage in the Northeast, a high-level coordination meeting was organised by the Tourism Department.

The event, scheduled from January 30 to February 1, 2026, at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Guwahati, Assam, aims to promote Odisha’s traditions, culture, cuisine, handicrafts, handlooms, and tourism potential to a wider audience.

Chaired by Tourism Department Director Deepankar Mohapatra, the meeting took place at the department’s conference room in Bhubaneswar. Mohapatra emphasised the importance of inter-departmental coordination to ensure the successful execution of the festival. He highlighted the need to highlight Odisha’s unique cultural legacy, including Odia food, artisanal crafts, and tourism attractions, while fostering greater visibility in the Northeastern states.

During the discussions, it was finalised that a total of 20 stalls from six departments and 10 food stalls would be featured at the event. The Handlooms and Textiles Department will showcase a maximum of six stalls, followed by the Handicrafts Department with six stalls, ORMAS with three, and Mission Shakti with three. Additionally, Adisha will present a stall dedicated to Koraput Coffee. To enhance the festival’s appeal, the Odia Language, Literature, and Culture Department will organise cultural performances, making the event more engaging and memorable.

The meeting also focused on strategies to amplify Odisha’s heritage and traditions in the Northeast, encouraging industrialists from other states to invest in Odisha. Mohapatra stressed the inclusion of the local Odia community residing in Guwahati to participate actively, ensuring the festival resonates with all attendees.

Senior officials from various departments attended the meeting, including the Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department; Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes Development, Minorities and Backward Classes Welfare Department; Information and Public Relations Department; Mission Shakti Department; Handlooms, Textiles and Handicrafts Department; ORMAS; Odisha Tourism Development Corporation; FICCI; and the Odisha Tourism Department. Each shared details about their respective stalls and contributions to the event.

This initiative is expected to strengthen cultural ties between Odisha and the Northeastern region, boosting tourism and economic opportunities.
