In a proactive move to streamline governance and align with upcoming national demographic shifts, the Odisha government has issued a directive mandating the completion of boundary delimitation for districts, subdivisions, tahasils, and revenue villages by December 31, 2025.
This initiative, spearheaded by the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, comes as India prepares for its long-delayed decennial census, now scheduled for 2027.
The notification, signed by Additional Chief Secretary Deoranjan Kumar Singh, emphasises the need for precise administrative boundaries to ensure accurate data collection during the census.
The directive outlines a timeline for revenue officials to review and finalise boundaries, incorporating inputs from local stakeholders to minimise disputes.
