In a vibrant celebration of National Handloom Day, Odisha witnessed the grand inauguration of ‘EKTA’—a dedicated initiative to promote handloom and cooperative efforts—at Janata Maidan, Bhubaneswar.
The event was graced by Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit, who attended as the chief guest and officially launched the program.
The ceremony was marked by cultural performances, artisan showcases, and a strong message of empowerment for local weavers. Chief Minister Mohan Majhi and State Minister for Cooperation and Handlooms, Pradeep Balsamanta, were present to lend their support to the initiative.
Speaking at the event, Madhuri Dixit expressed admiration for Odisha’s rich textile heritage and emphasised the importance of preserving traditional crafts through modern platforms like EKTA. The program aims to provide market access, training, and financial support to handloom artisans across the state.
The launch of EKTA aligns with the state’s broader vision to revitalise indigenous industries and promote sustainable livelihoods.
