Odisha has launched the second phase of its Caravan Tourism Service from the world-famous Dhauli tourism site.
Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida flagged off three luxury caravans under the Viability Gap Funding (VGF) scheme, marking a new chapter in the state’s tourism offerings.
The caravans promise modern and comfortable facilities, including beds, kitchens, and washrooms, ensuring tourists can enjoy travel without depending on hotels. The service aims to attract young travellers, nature lovers, and adventure enthusiasts by combining leisure with exploration.
Deputy CM Parida highlighted that caravan tourism will add a new dimension to Odisha’s travel experience. She said the initiative will appeal to tourists seeking adventure and eco-friendly journeys, while also supporting local tourism economies.

The caravans will operate across major destinations such as Hirakud, Debrigarh, Similipal, Chilika, Bhitarkanika, Satkosia, and Deomali. Tourists can expect premium comfort on wheels while exploring Odisha’s diverse landscapes and heritage sites.
The inauguration event witnessed the presence of Ekamra MLA Babu Singh, Tourism Director Deepankar Mahapatra, Bhubaneswar Block Chairperson, Dhauli Sarpanch, Sand Pebbles Tours and Travels Managing Director Alok Maharana, local representatives, and members of self-help groups.
Officials emphasised that caravan tourism will strengthen Odisha’s position as a leading destination for cultural, eco, and adventure tourism. The initiative reflects the state’s commitment to innovative travel experiences and sustainable tourism development.
