Hundreds of junior teachers in Odisha have taken to the streets of Bhubaneswar, demanding immediate regularisation of their positions.
Assembling at Mahatma Gandhi Marg, they urged the government to address their grievances, citing years of uncertainty surrounding their employment status.
Teachers argue that stabilising their jobs will not only benefit them but also improve education quality by ensuring a dedicated workforce. Many protesters recall promises made by previous and current administrations regarding abolishing contractual jobs, yet claim that junior teachers remain excluded from such reforms.
“If the government fails to act, we will escalate our protests statewide and even approach the central government,” warned one demonstrator.
Despite the growing unrest, government officials have yet to issue a formal response.
