The Odisha government has announced a landmark decision to support MSME entrepreneurs by waiving key fees related to land use changes.
Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari shared that small, micro, and medium enterprises will no longer need to pay conversion fees or lease charges for changing land use under approved conditions.
Previously, entrepreneurs had to pay 1% of the benchmark value for land conversion and an additional 1% as lease rent. These charges have now been completely waived, significantly reducing the financial burden on MSMEs.
The benefit will apply only if the land is listed on the central portal and approved by the district committee. However, the exemption will not extend to protected zones, defense areas, or archaeological lands.
This move aims to simplify the process for MSMEs to establish and expand their operations. Entrepreneurs who deviate from their declared purpose will be required to return the land to the government.
The decision reflects the state’s commitment to fostering industrial growth and empowering local businesses. By removing these financial hurdles, Odisha hopes to attract more investment and encourage entrepreneurship across sectors.
