The Odisha government has announced a mandatory e-KYC update for job card holders.
Failure to comply within a three-month window will result in cancellation of the job cards, said Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Minister Rabi Narayan Naik.
Addressing media representatives, Minister Naik revealed that the state has started identifying and invalidating fake job cards across districts. “Those who manipulated the system and misappropriated public funds will be held accountable,” the Minister emphasised.
He clarified that job card holders must complete e-KYC formalities within the stipulated time to ensure authenticity and transparency in welfare disbursements.
In an aggressive push for database cleansing, the state has already issued around 2 lakh new job cards in the past year to eligible beneficiaries.
This initiative aims to streamline beneficiary identification, curb corruption, and restore public trust in rural employment schemes. The government also plans further digital audits and public awareness campaigns to ensure compliance across regions.
