Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has decided to reschedule the Savitri Amavasya holiday from May 27 to May 26, following consultations with religious institutions, including Puri Mukti Mandap and other traditional calendar organisations.
Initially, the official holiday was set for May 27, but after thorough discussions, it was confirmed that the festival would be observed on May 26. Consequently, the state government has approved the adjustment to align with the accurate religious timing.
On May 27, all government offices and institutions in the state will remain open.
The decision ensures that official schedules are synchronised with traditional observances, allowing government employees and citizens to celebrate the festival without any discrepancies.
The change highlights the administration’s commitment to respecting cultural traditions while maintaining effective governance.
