The Odisha government has enhanced financial aid for temples across the state, raising the allocation from Rs 5 crore to Rs 7.5 crore.

The decision benefits more than 4,000 temples, strengthening heritage preservation and religious infrastructure.

Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan informed the Assembly that the government provided an additional Rs 2.5 crore compared to previous allocations. He was responding to a question raised by MLA Tankadhar Tripathy.

Currently, over 18,000 temples function under the Debottar Commission. Out of these, 4,145 temples receive independent financial assistance. The increased allocation aims to support maintenance, rituals, and preservation efforts across these institutions.

Officials emphasised that the government’s move reflects its commitment to safeguarding Odisha’s cultural and spiritual heritage. The enhanced aid will help temples improve facilities and sustain traditional practices.
