Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Minister Rabi Narayan Naik has called on eligible beneficiaries to expedite their applications for Pucca Houses in rural areas under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).

As of February 21, the initiative has received an impressive 12.5 lakh applications.

The Minister emphasized the importance of timely applications to ensure that the process can commence at the earliest. “The sooner these applications come, the sooner their process can start,” he stated.

Registration for the PMAY began in panchayats on January 24 and will continue until March 31. In a noteworthy achievement, 12 lakh 50 thousand applicants have registered by February 21. Each block has seen the registration of 4 to 5 thousand beneficiaries.

Eligible applicants, including widows, destitute women, individuals with mud houses, and those outside the current eligibility criteria of PMAY, are urged to register promptly with the Panchayat Executive Officer (PEO) and Junior Engineer (JE).

Minister Naik assured that the government is committed to providing houses to all eligible beneficiaries. Once the application process concludes on March 31, a list will be prepared, and the houses will be allotted accordingly.
