The Odisha Government has once again extended the suspension of IPS officer Pandit Rajesh Uttamrao for an additional 30 days, effective from April 26, 2025.
This marks the fourth consecutive extension since his initial suspension on July 30, 2024, following allegations of grave misconduct.
The 2007-batch Odisha-cadre officer was suspended for forcibly entering a woman inspector’s home without permission and allegedly misbehaving with her and her husband on the night of July 27, 2024. These serious allegations triggered disciplinary action against him.
A review committee chaired by the Chief Secretary convened on April 24, 2025, to assess the case. After examining all relevant documents and facts, the panel recommended extending the suspension by another 30 days, citing the gravity of the allegations.
Prior to his suspension, Uttamrao served as the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of fire services and home guard. His suspension and the successive extensions underline the Odisha Government’s commitment to upholding discipline within its police force.
