The Odisha government has constituted a four-member committee to oversee the online admission process for economically weaker sections (EWS) through the RTE Paradarshi Portal.
This decision comes following protests by the Odisha Parents’ Federation, alleging irregularities in enrollment processes for private schools under the EWS quota.
The committee, led by Sangram Keshari Mohapatra, Additional Secretary in the School and Mass Education (S&ME) Department, will handle grievances, manage the admission process, and propose recommendations to enhance transparency. Parents have demanded re-examination of over 8,000 rejected applications, claiming valid documents were dismissed without justification.
The move signals the government’s attempt to address concerns and ensure fair access to education under the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RCFCE) Act.
