Odisha Govt Announces UG, PG First-Year Classes to Start from July 10

The Odisha Higher Education Department has officially announced that first-year undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) classes for the 2025–26 academic session will begin on July 10, 2025.


The admissions process will be conducted in a phased manner through the Student Academic Management System (SAMS) portal.

Undergraduate (UG) Admission Timeline

UG admissions will take place in three main rounds prior to the start of classes:

  • First Round Allotment:

    • Provisional allotment: June 12

    • Admission window: June 13–17

  • Second Round Allotment:

    • Allotment result: June 22

    • Admission dates: June 23–25

  • Third Round Allotment:

    • Result announcement: July 1

    • Admission period: July 2–4

  • Final List (Selected + Waitlisted):

    • List release: July 13

    • Admission date: July 14

A second phase of UG admissions will begin after the CHSE (Council of Higher Secondary Education) announces the results of the supplementary/instant Plus II exams, which are expected later in July.

Postgraduate (PG) Admission Timeline

The PG admission process will also follow a three-round structure, aligning closely with the UG schedule:

  • Round 1:

    • Allotment: June 13

    • Admissions: June 16–18

  • Round 2:

    • Allotment: June 23

    • Admissions: June 24–26

  • Round 3:

    • Allotment: July 3

    • Admissions: July 4–8

  • Final Selection & Waitlist:

    • List release: July 22

    • Final admissions: July 25

Separately, Class XI (Plus II) admissions began on May 24 for Arts, Science, Commerce, Upashastri, and Vocational streams, with over 4.84 lakh matric-passed students eligible. Applications are being accepted until June 30 via the SAMS portal.

  • First merit list: Expected on July 7

  • Class commencement: Tentatively from July 24

www.samsodisha.gov.in

With structured timelines and phased allotments, the state aims to ensure a smooth academic transition for thousands of students entering higher education across Odisha.
