The Odisha government launched a major crackdown on industries that acquired land but failed to start operations, issuing show-cause notices and cancelling multiple allotments.
Industries Minister Sampad Swain informed the Assembly that 25 industrial units received show-cause notices for not utilising land. The government cancelled land allotments of seven industries, while five cases remain pending in court.
Out of 914 closed industries, IDCO issued show-cause notices to 665 units under its regulations. The government cancelled land allotments of 267 industries, and 81 of these cases now face EUO proceedings. Officials stressed that the crackdown aims to ensure land resources are used productively and to prevent misuse of government allotments.
Minister Swain stated that the government will continue strict monitoring of industrial land use. He emphasised that industries failing to honour commitments will face cancellation and legal action.
