In a proactive move to ensure the uninterrupted functioning of the State’s flagship Aahaar program, the Housing and Urban Development Department has issued detailed directives to streamline the supply of cooking gas for Aahaar Kitchens throughout Odisha.
Director of Municipal Administration, Arindam Dakua, IAS, has reached out to all Collectors, Municipal Commissioners, and Presidents of District and City Aahaar Societies.
Dakua emphasised the need to strengthen the logistics supporting the program. Currently, 170 Aahaar Kendras, backed by approximately 90 centralised kitchens, are providing affordable and nutritious meals to thousands of beneficiaries daily.
To maintain consistent service delivery, local authorities have been instructed to conduct an immediate assessment of cooking gas availability within their areas and to establish close coordination with gas suppliers, distributors, and other relevant agencies.
The directive calls for timely and proactive actions to prevent any interruptions in meal preparation and distribution.
This strategic emphasis on enhancing last-mile logistics and inter-agency coordination reflects the State Government’s strong commitment to food security and urban welfare.
By reinforcing operational resilience, the initiative aims to ensure that the Aahaar program continues to offer reliable and dignified service to all beneficiaries across Odisha.
