Odisha is charging toward a sustainable energy future under the leadership of Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment, Energy, Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo.

On Monday, the Dy CM conducted a high-level review of two flagship central government schemes—PM Surya Ghar and PM-KUSUM—designed to transform Odisha’s energy landscape by empowering households and farmers with renewable solutions. Singh Deo emphasised Odisha’s unwavering commitment to clean energy, stating, “Odisha stands resolute in its pursuit of a sustainable, self-reliant energy future—where innovation meets inclusion, and every household and farmer is empowered through renewable solutions.” The review meeting, held in Bhubaneswar, highlighted significant progress in both schemes, alongside a call for swift action to address public grievances.

Under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana, a scheme promoting rooftop solar installations, Odisha has received 1,28,336 applications, with 1,27,820 approved for feasibility. A commendable 33.6 MW capacity has already been installed, bringing clean energy to thousands of households. Similarly, the PM-KUSUM scheme, aimed at solarising agriculture, has secured approval for 50 MW capacity from the Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC).

The Deputy CM stressed the importance of addressing grievances promptly, particularly those raised through the CM Grievance platform. He also directed officials to conduct regular performance reviews of vendors, with strict measures like deregistration for underperformers to ensure quality and efficiency.

The meeting saw participation from key officials, including Principal Secretary, Energy, Vishal Dev, FA-cum-Special Secretary Debidutta Tripathy, Additional Secretary Saidutta Biplab Keshari Pradhan, and senior representatives from the Odisha Renewable Energy Development Agency (OREDA) and TP Central Odisha. They presented updates and a strategic roadmap to accelerate the implementation of these transformative schemes.
