The Odisha Police’s Crime Against Women and Children Wing (CAW & CW) in Bhubaneswar, on Wednesday, assumed full control of the investigation into the FM College student self-immolation case.
The case, registered as Balasore District Sahadevkhunta PS Case No. 229 dated 12.07.2025, has sparked widespread concern.
DSP Iman Kalyan Nayak of CAW & CW has been appointed to lead the probe, supported by Inspector Panchali Rout.
The order, signed by Vinyatoshi Mishra, D.G of Police, CID-CB, Odisha, grants Nayak the powers of Officer-in-Charge for this specific investigation, aligning with Rule 431(C) of the Odisha Police Manual Rules.
The move comes as authorities aim to unravel the circumstances surrounding the student’s death, with the Crime Branch stepping in to ensure a thorough and impartial inquiry. The public awaits further updates as the investigation unfolds.
