Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has taken prompt action based on a report published by *Pragativadi*, ensuring immediate support for a destitute Juang family in Kundhei village, Kodipasha Panchayat, under Banspal Block in Keonjhar district, part of his own constituency.
The Chief Minister’s swift intervention is set to change the fortunes of this tribal family, showcasing his commitment to uplifting marginalised communities.
Following the publication of a special report highlighting the plight of the family, CM Majhi directed the Keonjhar District Collector to act swiftly. Within a day, the District Collector submitted a detailed report to the CM, outlining the family’s situation and the steps being taken to address it. The report revealed the struggles of 72-year-old Danda Juang, who has been left to care for her three grandchildren—aged 9, 10, and 17—after her son Murali Juang’s death and his wife’s departure with another man. Living in abject poverty, Danda has been surviving on a monthly pension of ₹1,000 and 35 kilograms of rice under the Antyodaya Yojana.
The administration has devised a comprehensive plan to support the family. The two younger grandchildren will be enrolled in a hostel, with the youngest set to join on Saturday, September 7, 2025, and the middle child to follow soon after. Additionally, the family will receive ₹20,000 in financial assistance under the National Family Benefit Scheme (NFBS). These measures aim to provide immediate relief and secure a brighter future for the children through education and stable living conditions.
This intervention reflects the state government’s proactive approach to addressing the needs of vulnerable tribal communities, ensuring that no family is left behind in Odisha’s journey toward progress.
