Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today conducted a comprehensive review of various initiatives under the Health and Family Welfare Department at Lok Seva Bhawan.
The meeting focused on bolstering the state’s healthcare infrastructure, with the CM directing officials and secretaries to conduct on-ground inspections and ensure effective upgrades at every facility.
Highlighting the need for reforms in the nursing sector, the Chief Minister stressed additional training for nursing students, qualitative skill enhancement for graduates, curriculum revisions, and integration of digital health systems. Discussions also covered improvements in the nursing and midwifery fields. To expand medical education, Majhi advised increasing seats and enhancing super specialty services at key institutions such as SCB Medical College, MKCG, and VIMSAR.
A key outcome of the meeting was the proposal for state-level implementation of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), aimed at digitising healthcare services across Odisha. Additionally, plans were discussed to appoint two-year DNB diploma doctors in all district headquarters hospitals. The CM emphasised prioritising the services of AYUSH doctors and ensuring the availability of Ayurvedic and Homoeopathic medicines in Ayushman Arogya Mandirs.
The session also reviewed the progress on trauma care construction at SCB Cuttack and overall infrastructure development in the health sector.
The meeting was attended by Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Mukesh Mahaling, Chief Secretary Anu Garg, Principal Secretary to the CM Saswata Mishra, Health Department Commissioner-cum-Secretary Shalini Pandit, National Health Mission Director Brundha D, and other senior officials.
