A tragic incident in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha has led to widespread unrest after a student lost their life at an Ashram School in Rasgovindpur.

Responding to the situation, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed deep sorrow and announced a compensation of ₹3 lakh for the bereaved family.

RDC Probe Ordered for Fair Investigation

To ensure transparency, the Chief Minister has directed the Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC) of the Central Region to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.

The move aims to uncover the exact circumstances surrounding the student’s death and address public concerns.

Violent Protests and Road Blockade

The incident reportedly occurred during a scuffle at the Ashram School in Kakabandh, triggering anger among locals and the victim’s family.

Protesters:

  • Blocked roads by burning tyres
  • Disrupted traffic movement
  • Demanded justice and accountability

Tensions escalated further when demonstrators clashed with police forces deployed to control the situation.

Police Action and Injuries Reported

During the unrest:

  • At least five police personnel were injured due to stone-pelting
  • Injured officers were admitted to a nearby hospital
  • Police resorted to a lathi charge to disperse the crowd

Despite these measures, the situation remained tense for several hours.

Government Assures Justice

Mohan Charan Majhi assured that:

  • A fair and impartial investigation will be conducted
  • Strict action will be taken against those responsible
  • Efforts are underway to restore peace in the region

Community in Shock

The incident has deeply affected the local community, with growing demands for accountability and better safety measures in educational institutions.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely to prevent further escalation.
