Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi, accompanied by Deputy CM KV Singh Deo, Revenue & DM Minister Suresh Pujari, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Rabi Naik, and Sambalpur MLA Jaynarayan Mishra, offered prayers at the revered Maa Samaleswari Temple in Sambalpur on Sunday.
The temple visit, steeped in cultural and spiritual significance, set the tone for an ambitious public outreach program scheduled for tomorrow, April 21, 2025, where the Chief Minister and a team of 11 ministers will address grievances from residents across 10 districts in Sambalpur.
The Maa Samaleswari Temple, a prominent spiritual landmark in western Odisha, served as a fitting prelude to the state government’s commitment to public service. The leaders sought blessings for prosperity and wisdom before embarking on their mission to directly engage with citizens. “The blessings of Maa Samaleswari inspire us to serve the people with dedication and resolve,” said CM Majhi, addressing the media briefly after the prayers.
On April 21, the Chief Minister, alongside 11 ministers, will hold grievance hearings at a specially organised event in Sambalpur, aimed at addressing the concerns of citizens from 10 districts. The districts covered include Sambalpur, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Sundargarh, and others in the region, which face a range of challenges from infrastructure development to disaster management and rural welfare.
The grievance redressal program will see the participation of a high-powered administrative team, including 11 senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers: Satyabrata Sahoo, NB Dhal, Arabinda K Padhee, Usha Padhee, Manoj Sahoo, DK Singh, Surendra Kumar, Sanjeev K Mishra, Shubha Sharma, Shalini Pandit, and Anupam Shah. Their presence ensures that grievances are not only heard but also followed up with actionable solutions, leveraging their expertise across various sectors such as agriculture, health, education, and disaster management.
The inclusion of senior ministers and IAS officers highlights the collaborative approach of the Odisha government under CM Majhi’s leadership. Deputy CM KV Singh Deo, known for his focus on rural development, emphasised the importance of such initiatives in addressing grassroots issues. “This is an opportunity for us to listen directly to the people and ensure their concerns are addressed systematically,” he said.
Ministers Suresh Pujari and Rabi Naik, who oversee critical portfolios like disaster management and rural development, are expected to play pivotal roles in resolving issues related to flood preparedness, rural infrastructure, and local governance.
Sambalpur MLA Jaynarayan Mishra, a prominent local leader, expressed pride in hosting the event, noting that it would strengthen the bond between the state government and the people of western Odisha.
The grievance hearing is particularly significant for Sambalpur, a key economic and cultural hub in western Odisha. The region has faced challenges such as inadequate irrigation facilities, unemployment, and the need for better healthcare infrastructure. Residents are hopeful that the direct intervention of the Chief Minister and his team will lead to tangible outcomes.
The event also holds political significance, as it reinforces the state government’s commitment to western Odisha, a region that has long sought greater attention from policymakers. By choosing Sambalpur as the venue, CM Majhi is signalling his administration’s intent to prioritise balanced regional development.
The Sambalpur grievance hearing is part of a broader strategy by the Odisha government to make governance more inclusive and responsive. Similar programs are expected to be rolled out in other parts of the state, to bridge the gap between citizens and the administration. The involvement of senior IAS officers ensures that grievances are not only recorded but also tracked for resolution, setting a precedent for accountability in public service.
As the state prepares for tomorrow’s event, the atmosphere in Sambalpur is one of anticipation and hope. The combination of spiritual reverence at Maa Samaleswari Temple and the practical focus on grievance redressal reflects the Odisha government’s dual commitment to tradition and progress. For the people of the 10 districts, this is a rare opportunity to engage directly with their leaders and seek solutions to longstanding issues.
With the blessings of Maa Samaleswari and the determination of Odisha’s leadership, Sambalpur is poised to witness a day of meaningful dialogue and decisive action on April 21, 2025.
