Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi participated in the Srimad Bhagavat Mahotsav at Terapanth Bhavan, Cuttack Road, Bhubaneswar. The event was organized by the Dharma Jagruti Samiti.
The Chief Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to reviving Bhagavat Tungi in every village and making the teachings of the Srimad Bhagavat accessible to every Odia household.
Youth and Society: Bhagavat as a Guide
The Chief Minister said that youth play a key role in society’s development. Learning the teachings of Bhagavat can guide young people toward moral, ethical, and spiritual growth.
“The Srimad Bhagavat Mahotsav strengthens devotion, respect, and core values in society,” he said. “It encourages people to engage in righteous actions and fosters community development.”
The Srimad Bhagavat focuses on five key principles: God, life, nature, time, and karma. These principles guide human conduct and universal order. Traditionally, listening to the Bhagavat is considered ideal throughout life.
Daily Reading Encouraged
The Chief Minister urged all citizens to read the Bhagavat daily. He said this practice leads to a healthy, ethical, and spiritually balanced life.
He also noted that such festivals promote unity, devotion, and respect among the community. The teachings of Bhagavat help in social, ethical, and religious development.
Cultural Revival in India and Odisha
Since 2014, India has witnessed a cultural revival under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with initiatives such as the Ayodhya Ram Temple, Kumbh Mela, and pilgrimage corridors like Kashi Vishwanath and Mahakal.
The Chief Minister said that today, every Hindu proudly identifies with Sanatan heritage. He added that Odisha is actively preserving Odia culture and traditions, providing financial support for temple maintenance and religious events.
Support ranges from ₹50,000 to ₹1.1 lakh, covering festivals like Shitala Sasthi, Dhanuyatra, and other religious ceremonies. This ensures temple safety, upkeep, and beautification.
Acknowledgements and Future Plans
During the event, Padma Shri awardee Baba Balia appreciated the government’s efforts. Swami Brahmanand Saraswati, coordinator of Dharma Jagruti Samiti, thanked the state for its support.
The Chief Minister urged everyone to spread the teachings of Srimad Bhagavat in every Odia home. Under his leadership, Odia language, culture, literature, and spiritual awareness will witness a renaissance
