Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi embarked on a two-day visit to New Delhi on Monday, a day before the Vice-Presidential election. According to reports, the CM will participate in the voting process and may also hold internal meetings with BJP’s central leadership on key organisational matters.
Majhi’s visit comes right after Odisha BJP president Manmohan Samal left for Delhi on Sunday, fueling speculation that the back-to-back trips signal major decisions for the state’s governance and party structure.
Cabinet Expansion, Party Reshuffle on Cards
Party insiders suggest that discussions could cover:
-
Cabinet expansion and induction of new ministers
-
Appointments to state-run boards and corporations
-
Reconstitution of the Odisha BJP organisational structure
Samal, who recently returned from Delhi after meeting senior party leaders, had earlier dismissed speculation about delays. “There is no delay in our work. Everything will happen openly… Our government is running smoothly based on decisions already taken,” he said.
Naveen Patnaik Also in Delhi
Adding to the political buzz, former Chief Minister and BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik is also in Delhi to finalise his party’s stance on the Vice-Presidential election. He held a meeting with BJD Parliamentary Party members on Saturday at his Bhubaneswar residence and is expected to consult MPs before announcing the party’s official stand.
With both the ruling BJP leadership and BJD chief in the national capital, Odisha’s political circles are abuzz with speculation of imminent announcements that could reshape the state’s political and governance framework.
