Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today launched “Pragati Prabah”, the official mouthpiece of the Odisha government, published by the Department of Information and Public Relations (I&PR). The launch event was held at the Chief Minister’s residence-cum-office.
Describing the publication as “the moving reflection of the state’s development”, the Chief Minister thanked the I&PR Department for bringing out the magazine and said it would showcase the progress and transformative initiatives of the government.
A special highlight of the event was the presence of Hridananda Bisoi, a successful young farmer from Lakhanpur village in Jharsuguda district, whose inspiring journey is featured in the inaugural issue of “Pragati Prabah”.
The Chief Minister felicitated Bisoi, extended his best wishes, and advised him on leveraging various beneficiary schemes such as the Chief Minister’s Krishi Udyog Yojana, PM-KISAN, and the state’s CM-KISAN initiative to further expand his agricultural ventures.
Speaking on the occasion, CM Majhi emphasised the government’s commitment to farmers’ welfare and said today’s farmers are realising Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of an Atmanirbhar Bharat. “A farmer who supports not just one family but many through his produce is the real startup of India,” he remarked while interacting with Bisoi.
Bisoi, who holds degrees in B.Sc (Physics), MBA, and Mechanical Engineering, chose farming over corporate jobs. By adopting modern techniques such as drip irrigation and mulching, he has transformed himself into a ‘lakhpati farmer’. His motivational success story has been prominently covered in “Pragati Prabah”.
During the interaction, the Chief Minister enquired whether Bisoi was receiving all entitled government benefits and subsidies. He directed the Jharsuguda District Collector to immediately extend all possible assistance, particularly for developing cold-chain and agriculture-related infrastructure in the area.
Present at the event were Advisor to CM Prakash Mishra, former MLA Nauri Nayak, I&PR Director Anuj Kumar Das Pattnayak, Jharsuguda I&PR Officer Sushree Krushnakeshi Baliarsingh, and other officials of the department.
