Odisha Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi has approved a significant hike in the allowances for Civil Defence Volunteers in the state.
As per the Chief Minister’s decision, the daily duty allowance for civil defence volunteers has been increased from ₹31 to ₹150, and the daily training allowance from ₹28 to ₹140. The revised rates will be implemented retrospectively from May 1, 2025.
Currently, there are fewer than 700 Civil Defence Volunteers in Odisha. The Chief Minister expressed hope that this decision will lead to an increase in the number of volunteers, thereby strengthening the state’s disaster preparedness and emergency response framework.
