Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced that the new India–US strategic and trade partnership will place Odisha in a crucial position within the global semiconductor supply chain.
He emphasised that the rising global demand for rare-earth minerals found in Odisha will transform the state into a hub of advanced technological expertise.

Furthermore, Majhi explained that the agreement will connect Odisha’s mineral wealth with “Global Tech,” thereby opening new opportunities for industrial growth. He pointed out that the trade deal will also give Odisha’s seafood economy a fresh identity. As tariff reductions take effect, the demand for Odisha’s shrimp, fish, and other marine products will rise in the US market. Consequently, coastal fishermen and farmers will see higher incomes, while Odisha will emerge as a key centre in the expanding “blue economy.”

In addition, Majhi highlighted Odisha’s traditional and modern craftsmanship. He stated that the India–US trade agreement will make the state’s handloom and ready-made garments more accessible worldwide. Since lower tariffs will ease exports, weavers and artisans will gain new employment opportunities. As a result, Odisha’s traditional attire is poised to set new fashion trends on the global stage.
