Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has extended his heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all citizens for the English New Year 2026.

Emphasising the importance of maintaining productivity, in a press note issued today, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) has declared January 1, 2026, as a regular working day for all state government offices, including the CMO itself.

The directive urges the public not to visit the CM or CMO officials personally to convey New Year wishes, to avoid disruptions. “While personal courteous exchanges are permissible, any form of festivities, gatherings, feasts, or parties within government office premises is strictly prohibited,” the press note states. This measure aims to ensure that government workspaces remain focused on official duties and do not transform into celebration venues.

All heads of state, government departments, and institutions have been instructed to enforce these guidelines rigorously. The move reflects the administration’s commitment to discipline and efficiency, even during traditionally festive periods. Officials believe this will help streamline operations and prevent any misuse of public resources.

As Odisha prepares to step into the new year, the CM’s message underscores a blend of goodwill and governance, encouraging citizens to celebrate responsibly outside official settings.
