Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed deep sorrow over the deaths of Odia workers in the Tamil Nadu gas leak tragedy at Periyapalayam in Tiruvallur district.
He conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and wished a speedy recovery for the injured workers.
The Chief Minister announced ₹4 lakh financial assistance for each deceased worker’s family from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF). He said the state government stands firmly with the affected families during this difficult time.
Majhi described the incident as deeply distressing and directed officials to ensure proper coordination with Tamil Nadu authorities for medical care and support. Odisha Chief Secretary Anu Garg held discussions with her Tamil Nadu counterpart to guarantee adequate treatment and assistance for the injured workers.
Following the Chief Minister’s instructions, a three-member team of senior Odisha officials reached Tiruvallur to coordinate with local authorities. The team is overseeing medical arrangements and facilitating other necessary support for the victims and their families.
