In a courtesy meeting today, Debendra Pradhan, co-founder of Coratia Technologies Private Limited – a leading startup based at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela, specialising in underwater robotics for infrastructure inspection – met with Odisha’s Chief Secretary, Manoj Ahuja.
The discussion focused on leveraging advanced robotics technology to enhance the sustainability and operational efficiency of underwater infrastructure in Odisha.
Coratia Technologies recently secured a significant Rs 66 crore contract with the Indian Navy for deploying indigenous underwater robotic equipment. The Chief Secretary commended the company for this achievement, highlighting how it reflects the bright potential for technological and skill development in Odisha.
Pradhan explained that their unmanned robotics technology enables non-invasive monitoring of underwater conditions, including inspections, soil analysis, water depth measurement, structural health assessments, and other services. The company’s trained team delivers reliable and efficient solutions for infrastructure maintenance, research, and rescue operations.
Chief Secretary Ahuja pointed out that Odisha is home to numerous large and medium-sized water reservoirs, river dams, and various constructions in rivers, including many ageing bridges. He advised the co-founders to explore opportunities for utilising underwater robotics to monitor and ensure the safety of these structures.
The meeting was also attended by Bhupinder Singh Punia, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Skill Development and Technical Education Department.
