The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Odisha, R.S. Gopalan, IAS, convened a crucial meeting with representatives of all recognised political parties today at the CEO’s office in Bhubaneswar.

The meeting focused on the ongoing Special Summary Revision (SSR) of the electoral roll for the upcoming bye-election to the 71-Nuapada Assembly Constituency, with July 1, 2025, as the qualifying date, as directed by the Election Commission of India.

Gopalan stressed the importance of appointing Booth Level Agents (BLAs) promptly to ensure a robust and effective revision process at the grassroots level. “Active participation of political parties through their Booth Level Agents is vital to making the electoral roll comprehensive and accurate,” he said.

The Odisha CEO also handed over soft copies of the draft electoral roll for the Nuapada Assembly Constituency to the party representatives, enabling them to review and contribute to the revision process.

The meeting underscores Odisha’s commitment to conducting a transparent and inclusive bye-election, ensuring every eligible voter in the Nuapada constituency is accurately represented in the electoral roll.

The SSR process is a critical step in updating voter lists, addressing discrepancies, and facilitating a fair electoral process.
