Odisha is set to experience a significant drop in day temperatures, by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius, accompanied by hailstorms and Kalabaisakhi conditions starting Thursday and continuing until the 22nd.
The Regional Meteorological Center has issued orange and yellow warnings for several districts due to thunderstorms and hailstorms, with wind speeds expected to range from 40 to 50 km per hour.

- Thursday:
- Orange Warning: Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Kendrapara (wind speed of 40-50 kmph with thunderstorms and hailstorms).
- Yellow Warning: Sundargarh, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Sonepur, Boudh, Angul, Deogarh (wind speed of 30-40 kmph with light rain).
- Friday:
- Orange Warning: Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Angul, Dhenkanal.
- Yellow Warning: Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Bargarh, Deogarh.
- Saturday:
- Orange Warning: Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh (thunderstorms and hailstorms expected to slightly decrease).
- Yellow Warning: Multiple districts, including Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, and others.
The Director of the Regional Meteorological Center, Manorma Mohanty, stated that rainfall on Friday is expected to surpass Thursday’s levels. Additionally, Central Meteorologist Umashankar Das confirmed that a low-pressure system is forming in the upper atmosphere, coupled with an active depression over the Bay of Bengal. This will lead to an influx of moisture-laden air, potentially resulting in dangerous lightning, thundershowers, and hailstorms.
