A five-day induction training program for Postgraduate Teachers (PGTs) in History and English, working in non-government aided higher secondary schools under the Directorate of Higher Secondary Education (DHSE), Odisha, commenced today at IMAGE, Shiripur, Bhubaneswar.

The training program has brought together 100 PGT teachers from across the state.

The inaugural session featured several distinguished guests, including Subhashree Nanda, Additional Secretary of the School and Mass Education Department; Sasmita Mali, Joint Director of DHSE; Snigdha Mishra, Joint Director of DHSE; Julie Mangaraj, Joint Director of DHSE, and Deputy Director Jitendra Nayak.

In her keynote address, Additional Secretary Smt. Nanda emphasised the importance of adopting a compassionate and value-based teaching approach to foster the holistic development and character building of students. She highlighted the need for a stress-free and friendly learning environment and called for increased parental awareness.

Additionally, she underscored the relevance of 21st-century educational priorities, including skill development, vocational training, and digital education, as outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP).

During the session, Joint Director Sasmita Mali delivered the welcome address and provided participants with an overview of the training program’s objectives. Smt. Snigdha Mishra concluded the session by offering the vote of thanks.

This training program aims to enhance the professional competencies of PGT teachers. Key modules include the Odisha Career Portal, classroom management, teacher professional development, pedagogical skills, and group activities.

The sessions will also address the formation of Aspirational Schools. Based on feedback from previous training programs, this initiative includes practical exposure to the iGOT Karmayogi app, vocational education, scholarship processes, promoting nutritional well-being for healthier classrooms, and developing climate-resilient schools.

This initiative reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to empowering educators and aligning Odisha’s school education system with national educational reforms.
