Elections for all bar associations across Odisha, including the High Court Bar Association, are being conducted today under the directive of the Odisha State Bar Council.
From early morning, a heavy turnout was witnessed near the court premises as lawyers queued up to cast their votes. The polling began at 7:30 AM and will continue until 3:00 PM. Counting of votes is scheduled to start at 4:00 PM, with results expected by late evening.
The elections are being held simultaneously in 165 bar associations across the state. The High Court Bar Association election includes positions such as President, Vice President, Secretary, Joint Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Treasurer, Library Secretary, and Executive Members. Nearly 5,000 voters are exercising their franchise in the High Court Bar Association alone.
Voting is being conducted under the “One Bar, One Vote” rule, ensuring transparency and fairness. Security arrangements have been tightened across all polling venues to maintain order during the process.
Apart from the High Court, elections in district and local bar associations are also underway, with lawyers electing office bearers for various posts. The outcome will shape leadership across Odisha’s legal fraternity for the coming term.
