Ahead of the Odisha Legislative Assembly’s monsoon session beginning tomorrow, the Commissionerate Police has ramped up security measures, deploying 30 platoons of police personnel to maintain law and order around the Assembly premises.
A comprehensive three-tier security system has been put in place, including barricading of surrounding areas and restrictions on vehicle movement. Only emergency vehicles will be permitted within the restricted zones during the session.
To ensure maximum vigilance, the security setup includes a striking force, Special Task Force (STF), bomb disposal squad, dog squad, and fire brigade. CCTV cameras have been installed at strategic locations such as the Assembly, Lower PMG, and Rabindra Mandap. Additionally, five temporary police control rooms have been established to monitor activities and prevent any untoward incidents.
Plainclothes officers will be deployed to detect suspicious behavior, while armed forces will secure the perimeter. Director General of Police Y.B. Khurania is expected to inspect the arrangements to ensure an incident-free session.
The enhanced security reflects the government’s commitment to safeguarding democratic proceedings and protecting elected representatives, officials, and the public.
