The foundation stone for the expansion of the old guest house at Unit 4, Odisha Legislative Assembly premises, was laid today in the presence of Speaker Smt. Surama Padhi and Deputy Speaker Shri Bhabani Shankar Bhoi. Assembly Secretary Shri Satyabrata Rout also attended the ceremony.
The existing guest house, which currently has 23 rooms, has been facing space constraints. To address this, a new three-storey building will be constructed at a cost of over Rs 3.08 crore. The expanded facility will include 16 additional rooms and will be connected via elevators, covering more than 9,000 square feet.
The project is expected to be completed by March 31, 2026, increasing the total room count to 39. Additionally, the new guest house near the OMC office already offers 18 rooms, bringing the combined accommodation capacity to 57 rooms.
The upgraded facility will feature online booking and 24/7 security, ensuring safe and comfortable lodging for former legislators and guests visiting Bhubaneswar.
Senior officials from the Assembly were present during the event, marking a significant step toward modernizing legislative infrastructure.
