Bhubaneswar: In a landmark move toward digital innovation, the Odisha Legislative Assembly is set to go paperless for its upcoming Budget Session, which begins on February 13, 2025. All 147 seats in the Assembly have been equipped with tablets, enabling lawmakers to conduct legislative duties—such as question-and-answer sessions and proposal submissions—via digital platforms.

The initiative, aimed at modernizing legislative proceedings and enhancing efficiency, was discussed during an all-party meeting chaired by Speaker Surama Padhy. The meeting underscored the importance of maintaining a harmonious atmosphere in the House ahead of the session.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, along with the Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Opposition chief whip, and other key stakeholders, participated in the discussions. In a concurrent development, CM Majhi visited Raj Bhavan for a courtesy meeting with Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati. The Governor is slated to deliver the inaugural address, outlining the state’s developmental and growth trajectory for the fiscal year 2025-26.

The session, scheduled to run for 28 working days, will culminate with the presentation of the state budget on March 17. This digital transition not only streamlines the Assembly’s operations but also reinforces Odisha’s commitment to modern and efficient governance.
