Somanath Dash, a distinguished Sanskrit scholar from Odisha’s Ganjam district, has authored a monumental work titled ‘Narendra Arohanam,’ a 700-page Mahakavya (epic poem) chronicling the life and achievements of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This extensive literary work, written in Sanskrit, features 1,200 slokas (verses) spread across 12 chapters.
Dash, an associate professor at the National Sanskrit University in Tirupati, spent over four years meticulously researching and composing this epic. The Mahakavya traces Modi’s journey from his humble beginnings in Gujarat to his rise as the Chief Minister of Gujarat and eventually as the Prime Minister of India.
The book was unveiled at a youth festival held in Veraval, Gujarat, last week. It includes English and Hindi descriptions alongside the Sanskrit verses making it accessible to a broader audience.
“Inspired by his rise from a modest family background, Modi’s struggles and ascetic political journey have made him an inspiration for youth worldwide. I felt compelled to write about such a personality in Sanskrit,” said Dash.
Dash’s dedication to this project involved consulting various sources, including books, journals, Modi’s speeches, and his radio talk series ‘Mann Ki Baat.’ Despite never having met Modi personally, Dash’s comprehensive research has resulted in a detailed and inspiring account of the Prime Minister’s life.
