A court in Nuapada district has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for the chilling murder of his nephew as part of a black magic ritual in 2019.
The verdict, delivered by Additional District and Sessions Judge Sunil Kumar Das, followed a thorough trial and examination of evidence.
The convicted, Chintamani Majhi, was found guilty of sacrificing his minor nephew, Dhansingh Majhi, believing it would bring a prosperous harvest. The shocking act occurred on August 8, 2019, when Majhi lured the child to an agricultural field under the guise of chopping a tree. During the act, he brutally attacked his nephew from behind, beheading him on the spot.
Police arrested Majhi soon after, and the court today ensured justice was served. Public prosecutor Kartikeswar Maharana stated that the ruling was based on a detailed review of the evidence.
