The sacred ritual of Banakalagi Niti will be solemnly observed at Srimandir today, February 11, 2026.
According to temple administration sources, following the completion of the second bhog at the Bhog Mandap, public darshan will be temporarily suspended from 6:00 PM until 10:00 PM to facilitate the confidential conduct of the ritual procedures.
This traditional ritual involves the ritualistic touch-up of the facial features of the deities—Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra—using natural colours and pastes, symbolising renewal and devotion.
Devotees and tourists are advised to plan their temple visit accordingly and honour the sanctity and discipline of the Banakalagi ceremony.
