Odisha Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena on Friday stated that the demands of the agitating drivers have already been discussed, and there is no further need for continued protests.
Addressing the ongoing strike by the Odisha Drivers’ Mahasangha, the Minister appealed to the drivers not to be misled by their union leaders and to return to work. He noted that the decision to suspend the strike for a day in support of a Congress rally on July 11 indicates that the protest has taken a political turn.
“The government is committed to the welfare of drivers, and meaningful discussions have already taken place. There is no justification for prolonging the strike,” said Jena.
He urged the drivers to withdraw from the protest and resume their duties, emphasizing the impact the strike has had on the public, especially commuters and essential services. The transport strike, now in its fourth day, has severely disrupted bus services and fuel supply, leading to growing public concern over a looming fuel crisis.
