Jharkhand: The CBI apprehended Surabhi Kumari on Friday, a first-year MBBS student from Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Ranchi, on allegations of her involvement in a ‘solver module’ connected to the NEET-UG paper leak, as stated by officials.
Following two days of rigorous interrogation by the CBI, Kumari was taken into custody. She is believed to be the fifth accomplice of the ‘solver module’ that was in Hazaribagh on the morning of May 5, the NEET-UG exam date, to work on the purloined paper, reportedly secured by Pankaj Kumar.
Officials reported that the CBI team reached out to the hospital management on Wednesday to seek permission to question her regarding the NEET paper leak. The management was cooperative. The interrogation continued on Thursday, and further questioning was anticipated, shared RIMS PRO Rajiv Ranjan.
The student’s parents have been notified of the developments by the management.
On Thursday, the CBI detained four MBBS students from AIIMS Patna, identified as part of the same solver module, in relation to the NEET-UG paper leak. They are currently under a four-day CBI custody.
It is suggested by sources that these five individuals were charged with devising the answer keys for the paper to assist NEET candidates who had solicited the gang’s services.
