Three minor boys drowned while bathing in the village pond in Nayagarh district on Sunday.

The incident occurred in Godibida village, Similisahi Panchayat, Dasapalla block.

The victims, identified as Umakanta Nayak, Ritesh Pradhan, and Shubham Khilar, had come to attend a wedding in the village.

On Sunday morning around 10 AM, the boys went to the pond to wash their bicycles. While cleaning, they tragically drowned in the water. Local residents immediately rescued the minors and transported them to the Daspalla Community Health Centre. Unfortunately, the doctors declared them deceased upon arrival.

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the need for safety measures near water bodies, especially in rural areas.
