Naveen Patnaik, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) supremo and Leader of Opposition in Odisha, is showing steady improvement in his health condition following treatment for dehydration at Sum Ultimate Medicare in Bhubaneswar.
Admitted on Saturday evening, the former Chief Minister is under the care of a specialised medical team, and his condition is now stable, according to the hospital’s medical bulletin.
On Monday afternoon, Patnaik was shifted from the observation room to a cabin, signalling positive progress in his recovery. Hospital sources indicate that he is steadily regaining strength and is expected to be discharged soon.
In a video message from his hospital bed, Patnaik expressed gratitude to the doctors and staff for their care, stating, “I am here in the Sum Hospital. This follows an earlier video on Sunday where Patnaik reassured supporters, saying, “I am fine.” His recovery has brought relief to his party and followers, with senior BJD leaders expressing optimism.
“Naveen Patnaik’s health is stable, and he had breakfast this morning. The doctors will decide on his discharge soon. We hope he returns fully recovered,” said senior BJD leaders Debi Prasad Mishra and Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak.
Former minister Ashok Panda also confirmed to the media that Patnaik’s condition is stable, with supporters across the state praying for his speedy recovery.
Patnaik, a beloved figure in Odisha politics, continues to command immense respect, and his health update has been warmly received by well-wishers.
