Today is November 26, the National Constitution Day. Joining a program organised at the AG Square on this occasion, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said that the Constitution is the holy book of our independent India… The guide of the country… The main source of all the laws, rules and regulations of the country. He called on all citizens to be aware of the values of the Constitution and fulfil their fundamental duties.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister and the members of the State Cabinet present first paid homage to the statue of Dr. Babasaheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar, Chairman of the Constitution Drafting Committee. The Chief Minister read out the Preamble of the Constitution to the public present there.
In his speech, the Chief Minister paid homage to the Chairman of the Constituent Assembly Dr Rajendra Prasad, the Chairman of the Constitution Drafting Committee Dr BR Ambedkar and all the members of the committee.
The Chief Minister said that our Constitution is a blessing for us. It has given respect and rights to everyone irrespective of caste, religion, rich-poor, and male-female. Therefore, we should express our gratitude to the framers of our Constitution, he said.
He said that the Constitution is the main source of unity and integrity of our country. Therefore, we all need to follow the fundamental duties enshrined in the Constitution. We must be conscious of the sovereignty, unity and solidarity of the country at every moment. We must also show respect to our national flag and national anthem. We must also work responsibly to protect the country’s heritage, he said.
Following this, more than a thousand people took part in a padayatra from AG Chowk to Capital Hospital under the leadership of the Chief Minister. Everyone enthusiastically took part in the march chanting ‘Ama Samvidhan Ama Swabhiman’.
The Chief Minister and other ministers participated in a cleaning session at Capital Hospital.
Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan, Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling, Sports Minister Suryabanshi Suraj, Forest and Environment Minister Ganesh Ramsingh Khuntia, Cooperation Minister Pradeep Bala Samanta, and former Minister Manmohan Samal were prominent participants in this program.
The event organized by the Sports and Youth Services Department was attended by the Principal Secretary, Bhaskar Jyoti Sharma, other senior officers of the department, volunteers of Nehru Youth Center, sportspersons, students and other dignitaries. More than one thousand people attended the padayatra. Students performed street plays and other awareness programs on the occasion.
