NASA’s Crew-9 mission has officially begun its return journey to Earth after successfully undocking from the International Space Station (ISS) at 1:05 am ET (0505 UTC), NASA confirmed in a tweet.
Aboard the SpaceX Dragon spacecraft are NASA astronauts Sunita Williams, Butch Wilmore, Nick Hague, and Roscosmos cosmonaut Aleksandr Gorbunov, who are now en route back home after completing their mission aboard the ISS.
The crew is scheduled to land on Earth around 3:30 am on Wednesday, wrapping up their stay in orbit. Their mission involved conducting various scientific experiments and maintenance work on the ISS, contributing to ongoing space research and exploration efforts.
NASA, along with SpaceX teams, is closely monitoring the spacecraft’s journey to ensure a safe re-entry and splashdown. The successful return of Crew-9 will mark another milestone in the NASA-SpaceX partnership under the Commercial Crew Program.
