The body of a Class 8 student was found hanging from a Mahua tree near Sahajat Ashram School in Nuapada district’s Komna block.
The deceased, identified as Ashwini Bandichhor, aged 13, was a resident student of the school located in Jatgarh Panchayat.
According to reports, the body was discovered around 10 PM on Wednesday, approximately 30 meters from the school premises. The scene has raised serious concerns among locals and authorities alike.
Initial Findings: Nuapada SDPO Swadhin Mishra and a local medical officer stated that the boy had a rope tied around his neck, suggesting death by hanging. However, the exact circumstances remain unclear.
Ashwini’s father, Tulsidas Bandichhor, has filed a written complaint at Komna Police Station, claiming that his son had been unwell and may have died due to illness rather than suicide or foul play.
Police officials, including the SDPO and Komna station officers, have begun a technical investigation at the site. Authorities are exploring all possible angles, including medical history, school environment, and potential external factors.
This tragic incident has cast a shadow over the Sahajat Ashram School and raised questions about student safety and mental health support in residential educational institutions.
