Mumbai: Incessant overnight rains threw parts of Mumbai out of gear on Sunday with the city witnessing severe waterlogging, disruption of vehicular traffic.
While the vehicular traffic was disrupted, as many as 17 trains short terminated/regulated as ‘very heavy rainfall’ causes waterlogging on railway tracks at multiple locations in Mumbai and suburban areas.
Central Railway said that due to waterlogging in tracks at Dadar, Parel, Matunga, Kurla, Sion, Bhandup and other locations, train services on main line between CSMT and Thane and on Harbour Line suspended.
“CSMT to Vashi services, including Bandra/Goregaon suburban services, are also not working,” said Shivaji Sutar, chief spokesperson of Central Railway.
Due to very heavy rain last night & subsequent water logging at various locations between Prabhadevi- Dadar and Virar- Nalasopara, suburban & long distance trains of Western Railway were affected.
All pumps are working at water logged areas and the position is closely monitored by railway officials and field staff for early restoration.
