The mother of missing Odia sailor Sarthak Mahapatra returned to Bhubaneswar after an unsuccessful search for her son in Singapore. Despite sustained efforts, no information regarding his whereabouts could be obtained, leaving the family distressed but still hopeful.

According to reports, Sarthak’s mother and maternal uncle had travelled to Singapore to personally coordinate search efforts. They approached local police authorities, administrative officials, and the concerned maritime company where he was employed. However, despite multiple inquiries and follow-ups, there was no breakthrough in the case.

Sailor Reported Missing Days Ago

Sarthak Mahapatra had been working as a sailor in Singapore. He reportedly went missing a few days ago under circumstances that remain unclear. The sudden disappearance triggered anxiety among family members and sparked widespread concern in Odisha.

His mother’s return without concrete updates has deeply saddened relatives and well-wishers. Visuals from the airport reflected the emotional strain on the family after days of uncertainty abroad.

Appeals for Government Intervention Continue

The case has drawn significant public attention in Odisha, with many expressing solidarity and praying for Sarthak’s safe return. The family has appealed to the Ministry of External Affairs, Singapore authorities, and maritime agencies to intensify search operations and ensure coordinated action.

While the immediate search in Singapore has not yielded results, the family has not given up hope. They continue to urge both Indian and Singaporean authorities to take all necessary measures to trace the missing sailor.

The incident highlights the challenges faced by families when loved ones go missing overseas and underscores the need for swift diplomatic and institutional cooperation in such cases.
