Mission Shakti Women to Receive Smartphones and ID Cards, Announces Odisha Dy CM

The Odisha government has announced a major revamp of its flagship Mission Shakti programme to further empower women across the state.

Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida stated that Mission Shakti will be given a new identity, including a fresh dress code for its members. The new uniform will come into effect from Utkal Divas, symbolising a renewed sense of pride and recognition for women associated with the initiative.

In addition to the dress code, Mission Shakti women will receive smartphones and official ID cards. The smartphones will strengthen digital connectivity, enable smoother financial transactions, and provide easier access to government schemes. ID cards will serve as official identification, helping members coordinate with government departments and financial institutions more effectively.

The government emphasised that these measures will modernise Mission Shakti, making self-help groups more efficient and digitally empowered. Smartphones will help women manage group activities, promote entrepreneurship, and enhance communication across networks.
